Runtime and database
The Keragi server runs WASM resources on the wasmx host. The host is a native binary, so platform and database support are determined by the host; the WASM resources themselves are CPU-architecture independent.
1. Server platforms
The current release only ships a Linux x86_64 host.
| Platform | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Linux x86_64 | Supported | Bare metal, virtual machines and containers |
| Linux ARM64 | Later version | Planned |
| Windows x86_64 | Later version | Planned |
| macOS (Intel / Apple Silicon) | Later version | Planned |
| ESP32 / embedded devices | Not supported yet | Different runtime and resource model; requires dedicated work |
| Other server architectures | Coming soon | Evaluated based on demand |
- The downloads page only provides the Linux x86_64 package.
- Node.js is only required by the
@keragi/wasmxinstaller; the host itself does not depend on Node.js at runtime. - Multiple host instances can run on one Linux machine (for example a main server plus a connector server), each with its own port, data directory and
JWT_SECRETsetup (the connector must share the main server’s secret).
2. Database
The current version uses SQLite by default; no separate database service is required.
- Configuration:
WASMX_DB=sqlite://data/keragi.db - Database files live in the deployment’s
data/directory - Each WASM resource uses its own SQLite file (for example
data/userx.db,data/conn.db) - Backup: stop the service and copy the whole
data/directory - The default SQLite setup is sufficient for single-machine deployments and small-to-medium teams
Support plan for other databases:
| Database | Status |
|---|---|
| SQLite | Default |
| PostgreSQL | Later version |
| MySQL / MariaDB | Later version |
| Other databases | Coming soon |
Only
sqlite://connection strings are supported today. Do not pointWASMX_DBat PostgreSQL / MySQL; the host will fail to start. External database support is planned for a later version.
